Breaking News: SPECIAL EFFECTS HAIR DYE IS STOPPING MANUFACTURING.
Hey folks. Really sad post today. The manufacturer of the amazing hair dye you’ve seen at Wildilocks for a decade and a half, Special Effects, just called us and informed us they are mothballing. That means they are stopping manufacturing, effective immediately, and shipping out all their currently available stock, and then more will not be manufactured for the foreseeable future. They didn’t discount the possibility they might start up again, but for now, they are shuttering their doors and this means we will not be able restock colours in the very near future. I’m not super surprised about this, as I had trouble placing orders over the last few months – more than usual, that is.
So what this means is – I’m placing our final ever order in about 12 hours from now. You can PRE-ORDER some colours that have been out of stock and they should arrive in about 2-3 weeks. After that, we can order no more from the manufacturer. The size of that order will depend on pre-orders. If you get your order in within this 12 hour period, you will be guaranteed the items you order at the price you ordered at. After this time, prices may increase as any remaining stock basically become collectors’ items. That has already happened with Atomic Pink, which we cannot order now.
This is the end of an era. We have loved Special Effects so much (though not ordering from them, that process has always been like pulling teeth). We love our other brands, Directions and Arctic Fox, and have no plans to be changing our stocking of these brands and have never had issues with ordering from these companies. We also are very close with finishing the new website design and will finally have Arctic Fox in the new webstore – been very slack about adding it to the old one knowing it was going to be decommissioned soon!

Holy cow. It’s really be a while since our last update – a few things planned have taken a little bit longer than expected, and some developments paused during 2018. But it’s now almost halfway through 2019 (another holy cow!) and we finally have some SUPER exciting news.
These are: TWO things coming up we would like to announce happening in just a couple of weeks, being: our first ever POPUP SHOP!!!elebentyone!!11!!!!!!! ….and….. a PHOTOSHOOT for our upcoming website revamp for which we are still looking for a couple of folks to be in on the action!! Read on for more info….

POPUP SHOP
The WILDILOCKS POPUP SHOP shop will be happening @ 470 Victoria St from 22-29 June (11am-5pm each and every day, including weekends.) – the biggest EOFY sale we’ve ever had, and actually, biggest sale, PERIOD. We have had overstock of clothing and accessories for a while, and while we rotate stock, we have storage space we really need to clear – and we genuinely, seriously want to just give it away.
That’s why we’re offering ONE FREE ITEM up to the value of $20 from the popup shop per person who rocks up while it’s on. How do you you get this item??? Well there’s a small catch. Yeah, you knew there’d be a catch. But it’s really super-small!! You can either:
* Share a link to this post ANYWHERE on social media (yes we’re even going to honour FB shares for this) – and show us evidence of this on your phone when you come in to the popup shop or…

PHOTOSHOOT
On the first day of the popup shop, 22 June, we are also doing a “day in the life of Wildilocks” photoshoot in the salon (while our clothing racks & stock are across the road it’s perfect for a photographer to come in!), and we’ve got spots for a couple more clients on the day – we want this to be a genuine salon day rather than a “staged” shoot, so we’ve already offered existing clients 30% off salon services, but we’ve got room for a couple more to join the fun. And not only this discount, but you’ll be offered a short studio-style portrait session once your hair is done, including a mini-makeup session, completely free. This offer is only available for a couple more clients, so if you’re interested and available on June 22, give us a call on 03 9327 5037 asap to book in. This is also a once-off opportunity with a really special personal touch.
Holiday time!
Just a quick note to let you all know that Wildilocks @ Victoria Melbourne will be closed for summer holidays from 23 December to 9th January inclusive. We’ll be back on January 10th! This means we won’t be able to ship any mail orders during this time. We’re also changing our opening hours to be more flexible and allow us time to develop some new exciting stuff…. look out for an exciting announcement early in 2018. See you next year!!!
Easter is almost here – and a few more holiday dates
Hey folks! We’ll be closed for Easter Friday and Saturday, and are now on Winter Trading hours, so closed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday except by appointment.
We will also be closed for a few weeks coming up in May – from May 3rd through to May 20th and back on May 24th! So if you are due for an appointment do book asap come in the next couple of weeks as there is inevitably a bit of a backlog when we come back after being away on holidays!

Due to Burning Seed being cancelled :(((( and really wet weather set for most of Victoria this coming weekend, we’ve made the decision to keep the salon open for 1 more week before renovations begin and extend the 50% off sale for this extra week! We’ve updated our prices page to reflect our upcoming price increase – a very small 5-10% increase just to keep up (and even staying a little bit behind given it’s been over 5 years) with inflation. New prices will be in effect when we re-open on Tuesday 18th October – returning to our summer hours as well as Daylight Savings begins while we are closed for renovations.
Also one last thing – we will be closed for the Grand Final public holiday on Friday, and our last open day before renovations will be Saturday October 1st!

It’s been a while since our last post and also since our last SALE. Well guess what? You get BOTH today! And for the sale, not just one day, or one week… but a WHOLE MONTH – a Smashing September Sale!
Why smashing? Well, this is exciting news. We are soon to be RENOVATING and this means lots of smashy smashy inside the salon as we get rid of the old to make way for the new. And we need to get rid of stock to make this whole process faster and easier. Renovation means we will be closed around 2 weeks at the end of September / beginning of October, which means we need to give you a little treat in advance to say thanks for your patience too!
The sale is a massive 50 percent off ALL in stock CLOTHING, ACCESSORIES, BOOTS, SHOES and also selected hair care products, which is valid IN STORE ONLY, not online, so you’ll need to come down in person. The sale will be running for the WHOLE of September that we are open.
Please note that we will also be having a small price rise in October, which will be the first in over 5 years! We’ll have more information in store and on the website within about the next week too, but rest assured it won’t be crazy – unlike this sale 😀

Crazy detangling – our longest yet!
This is the before, during and after of the longest hair detangling we’ve ever done – with an amazing story.
Our client has been in a coma for a month, and nurses had not properly brushed her hair – seeing how long it actually was is not surprising, but also not excusable. Once out of hospital our client tried everything to get the knots out and went to about a dozen hairdressers who said they couldn’t detangle it, and would cut it off. She didn’t want to lose her lovely hair, so she kept asking different hairdressers. Finally she found us – and about 5 hours later, she had her hair back!!
If you need dreads or mats removed, come to the people who know dreads (that would be us!) We do detangling regularly, and know how to save your hair. Doesn’t matter how it got that way, we are completely non-judgemental, and no matter how bad it is we CAN save it, when no-one else can.
