I just thought I’d say at this point that I’ve been transferring across old news entries that were on the Wildilocks News page. The website is in the middle of a complete redesign, but hasn’t gone live yet – but this RSS feed is. So say hi if you like, this news blog will be a more integral part of the site in future and hopefully will be updated far more regularly!
Docs need Chi to operate
From the latest Chi news [page 64], being the industry magazine for the ammonia-free colour range we use @ Wildilocks:
Docs need Chi to operate
When the new hairstyling team reports to work for the NBC comedy Scrubs, they were met with the following request from the cast: “Please don’t stop using our favourite CHI products!” We are pleased to report that the transition has been smooth and Chi remains the mane brand for Scrubs main men and women.
So not only do we have Threadless [that Zach Braff wears in just about every other episode], but they all have their hair done with Chi too. This makes me happy ^_^

CRIKEY!
Wildilocks has been so unbelievably busy that I’ve not done news page updates in … a year and a half! Basically I’ve just been putting the most important news on the main page and that seems to have been working, but I’m going to try and do a bit more thorough job here, now I finally have my first full time staff member! Yes, as of Tuesday July 18th, Wildilocks is offering full salon service & Chai is our new Principal Stylist, she has some wild ideas and fantastic skills. Print out the flyer below and bring in for a 10% discount on all new salon services, valid til 15/08/2006.
Hopefully this means I will soon have time to completely update the shopping cart on the website which has been on the cards for well over a year, and also add a BUNCH of new products we have in the shop [and I do mean literally hundreds of new items, including Ministry of Style gear and New Rock Boots, Miessence certified organic hair care products, Threadless tshirts, wonderful local designer Equinox chokers and cuffs and clothes, and the list just goes ON and ON… you can see why I’ve been lagging behind online!]
If you’re in Perth and haven’t been to BASE808 yet [Wildilock’s new home!] then come down asap, there are so many more reasons to than ever before!

Wildilocks has moved AGAIN!

Wildilocks is now stocking Knotty Boy Dread Stuff Instore! Coming soon to the online shopping cart – but feel free to email if you need some urgently and I’ll see what I can do!
Also my email enquiries have increased exponentially over the entire time I’ve been running Wildilocks, I’m now very very busy just keeping up with current orders, and am sometimes not getting to enquiries as fast as I would like, as there are SO many! Please be patient, I’m not ignoring you, I’m just seriously snowed under! All enquiries will be answered in turn, urgent enquiries will be answered earlier when possible. If you are in Perth Australia, please phone the shop during opening hours with your enquiries, especially if wanting to enquire about in-person services.
Please also note that if you’re making a general enquiry about extensions not being done by Wildilocks, or looking for recommendations of other extensionists in different parts of the world, I do not currently have time to answer these queries right now. Thanks!
It’s almost Christmas!
Hi all! It’s been a couple of hectic months [what’s new?] and I’m having a quick touch base just before the real last minute holiday rush descends, because there’s quite a few bits of news to relay! Firstly…
New Tour Dates Announced for 2005!
22nd – 24th January 2005 – Sydney [max. 3 appointment slots] 26th January – 1st February 2005 – Melbourne [max. 7 appointment slots]
Only a month notice but enough time to be prepared. I’ve had a lot of emails in the last month with enquiries so if you’ve been thinking about extensions book your place asap to avoid disappointment!
Email if you’re in one of the above cities and would like to book for the upcoming tours!
Now Available: Gift Vouchers
After many requests leading up to Christmas I finally have gift vouchers available to all, both instore and online! Any value can be requested for either goods or services. Online vouchers are coded & customised and sent as .jpeg attachments via email, instore vouchers are printed and presented in a gift envelope. Please email or come into the shop to organise one for a last minute gift this Christmas; they also will make a great birthday or other gift any time!
New options for dreadlock falls!
Wildilocks has simplified the falls options and added a new preference to give you the best of all worlds while keeping things simple. The new “tapering” preference in the first dropdown menu box on dread pricing page replaces the previous more complex tapered falls options and allows you to choose the length of your dreads more exactly – they can be either mildly tapered, moderately tapered or extremely tapered – giving you lengths of up to 36 inches! If you’ve ordered before and would like a pair of the old style mix length tapered dreads, please email with your request. Also, the mounting preference has been removed, as you can now order separately mounted accent falls as individual pairs of double-ended dreads.
Dreadlock Snoods: new size option
If you haven’t yet tried a dreadlock snood, you’re missing out on the quickest, easiest and most comfortable way to keep your dreads looking their best for the longest time! They are now available in extra long size, as wool dreads are becoming more popular and can be much longer than synthetic dreads, this size accomodates extra-long extensions with ease!
New Dread Cuff Range almost ready…
And last but not least, a new range of Dread Cuffs are currently being designed and tested by Hell for Leather exclusively for wildilocks! They will be available in a delicious variety of colours and styles and can be used both as wrist cuffs or dread cuffs or collars, depending on sizes. More options for Pony Cuffs will also soon be available! Some samples are already available at the shop, and here’s a teaser image to get you as excited as Big Kev:
Next update will most likely have some very exciting news, and more new products on the way. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
break in transmission
Okay – longer than usual wait between updates here…
Apologies for the huge break in transmission! Wildilocks hasn’t been out of commission though – far from it! I’ve been so busy I’ve hardly had time to do updates, and I still have a huge backlog of images for the client gallery to put up. Please bear with me, I’m hoping after the next tour that there’ll be complete catching up. I’ve managed to put up most of the loose extensions, and am slowly making my way through other areas.
However – there are new things afoot that I’m very excited about, so let me tell you all about what’s new.
Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne June Tour Report
June tour was hectic, with Melbourne as usual being the busiest. Some new clients but familiar faces also! One particular client I’ve kept wraps on as I’ve been hoping for some exciting news but seems everyone else has been as busy as I’ve been, so still waiting – yes I know that’s cryptic, but that’s all I can say here!
It’s now less than 2 weeks til the next tour to Sydney and Melbourne – so if you’re in one of those cities and would like extensions – get in touch asap! Slots only available for loose or wool extensions now – no more dreadlock slots available I’m afraid!
Fashion Parade – Seven Deadly Sins!
Wildilocks had a very brief cameo appearance in the last local fashion parade by Subversion held at Sin nightclub on Sat 28th August 2004 — just one very special “performance” piece — edible hair! See a quicktime movie of the actual eating here, as well as more pictures in the gallery.
New Section: Wool!
Over the last 6 months I’ve been experimenting with wool, and I’ve now got a local supplier who makes beautiful soft and vibrant chunky wool similar to Colinette Point 5, but a little softer, fluffier and more voluminous – which means you need less to get the same volume. It comes in a huge range of colours, and until September 14, Wildilocks is having a pre-order special for this new line.
New product: flashing braids!
And just new in as of last week, Wildilocks now accents other fun glowy stuff such as EL-wire for plastic falls, with new flashing hair braids! These bright LED multicolour braids go fabulously with plastic falls or can be worn on their own. Easy to operate and batteries are replaceable – they’re also remarkably cheap [$USD 2.75 each!]. See the shop section for more details – more photos coming soon, these are all I’ve had time for so far!
That’s about it for now, though I’ll try and be back much sooner with the next update!
Whoops: April is here already
Happy Easter, Everyone! Wildilocks was open over the Easter weekend, but will be closed on Saturday 17th April 2004 in Perth, because we’ll be down at the Fairbridge Folk Festival that weekend! … which means technically we’re open an extra day, just not at the shop!
Melbourne Tour Report
Melbourne went fabulously, with many new heads of Wildilocks dreads now to be seen in Victoria, and clients travelling in some cases for hours to get their hair extended! There are several new additions to the Client Gallery in both Dreads and Loose Extensions – take a look!
It’s only a little over 7 more weeks til the next tour begins to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne once more – so if you’re in one of those cities and would like extensions – get in touch asap!
New Product: Special Effects Hair Dyes!
I’ve been promising for almost half a year to get Special Effects Hair Dyes in stock – and finally after all this time, they’re HERE!
Have a peek at the new product page here for more info! There are limited colours available initially, but this will be expanded over time.
Sneak peek of Latest Photo Shoots with Nathan Baxter
Pretty much as the title says – shortly after returning from Melbourne, I had a photo shoot with Nathan for the band Paradoxx’s new CD – and another last weekend for the upcoming poster for Outbreed 4. You can see a selection of these and other images [many of which feature Wildilocks hair] in his deviantART gallery!
There’s more I’m sure I need to write here but I’ve really been working extended hours with orders, some for Whitby in the UK, and a few for the upcoming Covenant Tour [Australia], which I’m personally very excited about! Sorry such a brief update!
Quick update for February!
Recent Events – BDO and a special performance featuring Wildilocks dreads!
The Perth Big Day Out was a fabulous success! Unfortunately I forgot to get the camera out when we were really busy, so there’s only a few pics of the stall, and a couple of clients added in the Loose Streaks section of the Gallery. Better than nothing though! It was a great day and excellent event to be a part of, with massive crowd and huge exposure!
I also last month had the pleasure of creating dreadlock falls for a wonderful troupe of dancers — Gypsy Trail Tribal Dance Company’s ‘Diaspora Tribe’. They had a performance at the Quarry Amphitheatre and outshone all the other dance troupes with their dreaded finery, giving them a real edge! You can see a couple of photos of the troupe and performance over here!
New Melbourne Tour added for MARCH 2004!
Due to a great deal of early interest in the Melbourne leg of the June tour, I’m very happy to announce that wildilocks will be heading to Melbourne in March also – which means that anyone having extensions done in March are also guaranteed my availability for maintenance/reinstallation appointments for June … email if you’re interested and would like to book for either the new March tour dates or the June ones in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane!
New Product: Dreadlock Snood [& Free Shipping Offer]
Thanks to the request of a recent client, I’ve experimented with the creation of a dreadlock snood – and come up with a simple and effective design. What the hell is that supposed to be, you may ask [aside from a GBA game]? Well, a snood is essentially a hair net, originally worn in medieval times, but also revived in the 1930’s and ’40’s where wartime required women to work in factories and tie their usually very curly and carefully styled hair back neatly. Im sure there’s a few of you who’ve been in a situation where you’ve needed your dreads covered up – but not had anything custom made for the job, and made do with a scarf or head wrap which probably slipped or didn’t cover your dreads very well! Ideal for both natural dreads and synth dread extensions – a dread snood keeps your dreads neatly tied back and out of the way & are also ideal for sleeping in, as dreads are kept neater and develop less fly-away hairs when covered for bed. They’re designed with alot more room in them than standard snoods, because of the much greater volume of dreads, and are made with a stretchy crotchet-headband base, and a choice of either plain netting or spiderweb lace. Available in black only for now, but if really popular other colours may be introduced as well.
As a special introductory offer, dread snoods come with FREE SHIPPING til the end of the February!
